- Yellow Slots -

Two well-known musicians present their prime effort as an electronic/ambient act.

Reason for, the Yellow Slots which consists of Kyriakos Moustakas (Sundayman) and Dimitris Aronis (Modrec,Palindrome). Aesthetically different from both members’ solo projects and musical background, the music of Yellow Slots is considered a shelter for ambient and minimal explorations. Yellow Slots were formed in 2010 although the duo has been collaborating since 2006. In late 2008 they started creating musical textures inspired by the natural world and its processes, optical phenomena, as well as music and images of the 70’s, using old fashioned analog synths, piano and rhodes.

Το Σάββατο 19 Φεβρουαρίου, στις 9 το βράδυ, το Λιθογραφείον παρουσιάζει δύο απο τα πιο ταλαντούχα ονόματα της εγχώριας εναλλακτικής κοινότητας, την Μαριέττα Φαφούτη με την μπάντα της και τον León.

O ποπ ρομαντισμός της Μαριέττας Φαφούτη συναντά τις ολοκληρωμένες pop-folk χορευτικές ιστορίες του León και μαζί μας καλούν σε ένα ταξίδι από τα μιούζικαλ των 60’s - 70’s μέχρι την παριζιάνικη new disco σκηνή των 90's.

Η Μαριέττα Φαφούτη ήταν 15 χρονών όταν συνάντησε το πιάνο για πρώτη φορά και κάπως έτσι ξεκίνησε μια σχέση αγάπης και δημιουργίας που θα κρατήσει για πάντα. Έχοντας την φύση και τον έρωτα σαν κύριες πηγές έμπνευσης, έγραψε μουσική για ταινίες, ντοκιμαντέρ, τηλεοπτικές παραγωγές, διαφημίσεις, θεατρικές παραστάσεις, μιούζικαλ και πολλά ακόμα και είχε την ευκαιρία να συνεργαστεί με πολλούς σκηνοθέτες, παραγωγούς και άλλους καλλιτέχνες. To “Try A Little Romance” που κυκλοφόρησε από την Inner Ear, είναι ο πρώτος της προσωπικός δίσκος με 11 τραγούδια που έχει γράψει, ενορχηστρώσει και ερμηνεύει η ίδια, σε παραγωγή Ottomo. Αιθέρια φωνητικά, τρυφεροί στίχοι, πολύχρωμες εικόνες από φυσικά τοπία και δραματικές ιστορίες αγάπης που όμως καταλήγουν σε μαγικά ξέφωτα, όλα ζωντανεύουν μέσα από ανάλαφρες μελωδίες, άλλοτε χαρούμενες και άλλοτε μελαγχολικές, και σε συνδυασμό με μια ερμηνεία γεμάτη φρεσκάδα, νεύρο και θεατρικότητα συνθέτουν τα τραγούδια της Μαριέττας που προκαλούν χαμόγελα ευφορίας αλλά και συγκίνηση.

Ο León είναι μια 10μελής indie-rock κολλεκτίβα που δημιουργήθηκε το 2009 ως αποτέλεσμα της συνάντησης του singer/songwriter Leon με άλλους νεαρούς πολυοργανίστες της Αθηναικής σκηνής. Ο ήχος τους είναι ένα μουσικό πολυπολιτισμικό μίγμα με επιρροές που ξεκινούν από την ελληνική μουσική και τη Μεσογείο και καταλήγουν στις new-wave pop αναζήτησεις της δεκαετίας του '70, την indie-rock σκηνή του Brooklyn και τη παριζιάνικη new disco σκηνή των 90's. Στο δισκογραφικό τους ντεμπούτο με το τίτλο "Futrue", που κυκλοφόρησε από την Archangel Music, μια παραγωγή που έγινε από τον Ottomo και τον Josh Clark (Beirut), οι León ενώνουν τις φωνές τους σα γροθιά τραγουδώντας για τα παιδιά και την ελευθερία, το κενό και τις παραισθήσεις, το παρόν, την αλλαγή και τον έρωτα.

Χρησιμοποιούν όργανα όπως ukelele, τσέλο, βιολί, τρομπέτα, τρομπόνι, theremin, ακορντεόν, μελόντικα, μπάσο, drums, κρουστά, κιθάρα, μαντολίνο, βιμπράφωνο, μεταλλόφωνο, πιάνο τα οποία βρίσκουν το χώρο τους μέσα σε ευρυματικές pop ενορχηστρώσεις με θεατρική, ρομαντική και ειλικρινή διάθεση.

- Accra Minoa -

We are made to believe, that most of the time there is nothing worth of notice
beyond the big urban city centres..and that is how worthwhile efforts never get the attention they really deserve..a band from Katerini, Accra Minoa, proves preconceptions such as that mentioned earlier to be truly stereotypical.
I hope and I expect, to see/hear much more from them in the future, and await to see them in Athens.

I was feeling kind of blue today,so keeping that in mind I was browsing
through music that would be a match with my mood..and voila,I found it..
Two songs from the greek,three-piece band 'Mandy and the Panda'..Unconsciously,
I would press repeat all the time.The subtle, fairy-like voices from the track 'zoo'
that would calm me down and the interesting chorus effect somewhere throughout the middle of 'green fairies' made my day. :)
